Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon University; Stuart Evans, Distinguished Professor, CMU & Director, CMU-Emirates iLab
I’ve known Mauricio since he turned around the medical affairs group at Genentech. After confronting major setbacks, he initiated a positive new management style focusing on the flexibility to adapt to the uncertainties inherent in any discovery process. We wrote a case study together to document this pioneering way of maintaining a cohesive team while riding successive waves of uncertainty. How relevant it is today in this punctuated equilibrium where flexibility is an imperative for all corporations. We communicate frequently and it was a privilege to observe how Mauricio scaled up his approach to work at the global level at Roche and Takeda. He is laser focused on producing extraordinary results by motivating his teams to embrace the world as it is and to bring forward innovative solutions. We wish Mauricio all the very best as he scales this new venture to great heights!
Pharmaceutical Executive, Board Member and retired Chief Medical Officer at Eli Lilly
It was pleasure to work with Mauricio throughout most of his career at Eli Lilly and Company when he was Medical Director of both our Brazilian and UK Affiliates.
Mauricio possesses an agile mind and ability to get on with people and understand their need and motivations. He is a strong leader who transformed both affiliate organizations whilst always showing respect for individual. He is a strategic thinker with a proven record of success who can work effectively on multiple therapeutic areas and in particular understands medical affairs exceptionally well.
I have no doubt he will be as successful as a consultant as he has been in his career in Pharma up to this point and wish him the very best of good fortune.
Head of Roche Pharma Europe & International
I am thrilled to hear that Mauricio has taken the initiative to start Pulsus Pharma Consultancy. During our time working together at Roche, I was impressed with the breadth of Mauricio’s therapy area knowledge and expertise, from oncology to neuroscience and beyond.
Despite covering many different disease areas, he was at ease in all of them, and showed an ability to engage with therapy area specialists at a very deep level. In parallel, I was always especially struck by his thoughtful and pragmatic approach to translating cutting-edge science in a way that would allow teams to provide customers with what they needed.
Head of Pipeline and Cell Therapy Global Medical Affairs Takeda Oncology
Mauricio is an exceptional highly professional pharmaceutical leader and with a proven track record in building strong and highly reliable relationships as well as highly functional departments.
It was great pleasure to work with Mauricio at Takeda where he led the global medical affairs oncology team. He was not only a fabulous boss and a strong leader but as well my trusted mentor guiding me toward all the success we had when working at Takeda in building a newly structured global medical department.
I crossed paths with Mauricio before during our time at Roche, where we had the pleasure to work cross functional during many occasions and already there Mauricio was known to move things ahead fast and in an innovative way resulting in amazing results for his department and the company.
Mauricio always will deliver innovative solutions and exceptional results not only on organizational level, but he never loses sight on the details how to execute and deliver.
